Blindfold

A few moves in plain text, no board. Then: where did the pieces end up?

What it trains

Holding a position in your head. You read a few moves with no board at all, then answer where the pieces ended up. This is the seed of calculation: a line you can hold is a line you can start to calculate.

How to use it

Three sequences per run, each one the opening moves of a real game, and each asked about three to five pieces at once: reading the moves is most of the work, so one question per reading wasted it. Every piece is named by the square it STARTED on, never by the move it played, which would be the answer. Some of them never moved.

Start at two moves and climb. Six is genuinely hard, and the score worth chasing is your own last one.
